In a recent MGMA poll, we saw that only around 32% of poll participates keep a Credit Card on File.
Patients are responsible for so much more of their medical bill. Healthcare plans that have high deductibles are not going away, and the deductibles seem to be getting bigger and bigger. This leaves so many healthcare providers with increasingly large patient accounts receivable.
Many patients are stretched, both financially and for time. Patient billing statements tend to go to the bottom of the pile. This is why we encourage healthcare providers to implement a Credit Card on File Program.
Many providers are hesitant to implement a program such as this. It can be difficult to make a change but we see it over and over again how much it helps increase healthcare providers income. It is often well worth the time and possibility of a few upset patients.
